Started in 1905 by Haji Murad Ali ( 1877 – 1967 ) in Chowk. The 100-year old Tunday Kababi is considered as the most famous outlet for choicest Kababs across Globe till date. Tunday Kabab is so named because it was the specialty of a one-armed chef Haji Murad Ali. In India, the slang word used to describe a person with a hand disability is tunday. The origin of the kabab is narrated in the form of a story where the nawab lost his teeth and was unable to enjoy the meat; he apparently asked the cooks to develop a dish of softest and most succulent kababs !
Kabab is an integral part of Awadhi cuisine. The secret recipe of this ‘Galavati Kabab’ is said to incorporate more than 100 spices including sandalwood.
