Lucknow University is one of the great institutions of India & we are proud that Professor Umesh Chandra Vashishtha, the Professor of Education & the former Head and Dean is the star for the cause of Education. He is himself M.Sc.( Botany), M.A.( Philosophy), M.Ed., M.Phil. (Education), Ph.D. (Education). His areas of Specialization are Philosophy / Indian Philosophy of Education / Teaching of Science & Biology / Education and Rural Development / Primary Education, Curriculum Development / Higher Education, School Education Management, Basic Education and Sarvodaya Philosophy. He is associated with many other positions like Dean – Faculty of Law, Member – Executive council and Academic Council, Dean – Board of Studies, Director – Centre for Vivekanand Studies, Director – Centre for Gandhian Thought, etc. He is also member Board of Studies IGNOU Delhi and Viswa Bharti Shantiniketan.
His expertise has been utilized by various universities like University of Delhi, University of Jammu, M.D. University Rohtak, University of Mumbai, Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Goa University, M.S. University Baroda, Kota Open University, Viswa Bharti, Barakatullah University Bhopal and almost all universities of Madhya Pradesh and UP. He is member of NAAC and NCTE evaluation panels for Teacher Education Institutions in India. He shared his expertise with National Bodies like MHRD, NUEPA, NCERT, NAAC, NCTE, UGC, UPSC, ICSSR and many state level Higher Education and Public Service Commissions. He contributed in development of more than 40 films as script writer, editor, translator, moderator, subject expert etc. 25 students have completed their Ph.D. under his supervision. He is credited with publication of several articles & papers at national and international level ! Mr Vashishtha is the leading contributor in workshops, seminars & conferences in the field of education. Entire booklet is required to list all his contributions in such various literary & academic aspects ! Several awards have been conferred to him and the recent one is ‘Shikshak Sri Samman’ by the government of UP.
